At approx 6:30 this evening members of the Vernon detachment were called to a report of a boater overboard in the water at Kalamalka Lake. Officers attended and learned that eight people were in a boat enjoying the afternoon on the lake. The driver made a left turn and a male fell overboard into the water. There are indications that he was hit by the back of boat as it passed. A friend jumped in immediately in an attempt to locate and rescue him without success.
A search of the area where the male went over board continues to be searched by Search and Rescue but as of yet he has not been located.
Search and Rescue and the police are continuing to search the waters where this tragedy occurred this evening. The RCMP dive team is expected to be on scene tomorrow.
The people on the boat have been spoken to by the police this file continues to be investigated at this hour.
