A 12-person jury has found Michael James Nelson guilty of the lesser included charge of manslaughter in connection with the November 2007 death of Edward Carl Locey in Locey's Okanagan Landing home. Nelson hit Locey, 44, twice over the head with a roofing hammer. The jury deliberated for more than 11 hours over two days before returning with the verdict late Thursday. The trial last nine days in Vernon Supreme Court. Crown counsel had been seeking a second degree murder charge for Nelson, but the jury found the defendant not guilty of that charge.
