Peter McIntyre Tuesday, 02 June 2009 107.5 KISSFM:
A legal showdown could be brewing between the city of Vernon and the Okanagan Indian Band. The band's council will meet today to decide if they will go ahead with closing Lakeshore Road in Okanagan Landing. Chief Fabian Alexis tells KISS FM his council will likely be in favour of proceeding, and he'll have more to say this afternoon. Alexis says his band has never surrendered title of the road. Vernon mayor Wayne Lippert says the city has legal right of way, and would challenge the issue in court. The dispute started last week after the band rejected a city project to address safety issues along Kin Beach.
