After years of neglect, there's a plan to restore the highway entrance north of Vernon along Swan Lake. Mayor Wayne Lippert says the city and Area B of NORD have agreed to fund the landscaping and upgrade work. The mayor tells KISS FM, "We are moving ahead with it and we have plans to try to have something together, and money together, to begin that work and have something completed in the fall." Lippert says there's three options for the work, ranging from $118,000, to $380,000. "I know that's quite a spread but we're looking to make sure whatever goes in there will grow, will continue to grow and will be easy to maintain." Lippert says Mike Kowaluk from Swan Lake Nurseryland has offered a reduced rate on materials and labour to assist in dressing up the entrance to the city. The District of Coldstream and Area C of NORD opted not to take part in the program. The landscaping along the highway has been in limbo since the province stopped funding it several years ago.
