Canada's annual inflation rate fell further into negative territory in July, plunging to minus 0.9 per cent from minus 0.3 per cent in June, new figures from Statistics Canada showed on Wednesday. The negative number was the lowest since July 1953, when prices fell to minus 1.42 per cent on an annualized basis.Prices also fell on a monthly basis, dipping 0.3 per cent lower from June to July.

This can only be good news. A low inflation rate is normal, and even beneficial for an economy.
