The Okanagan Science Centre will be able to 'experiment' with some federal funding.M-P Colin Mayes announced $86, 430 for the facility in Polson Park. The Vernon Science and Discovery Society will use the funding to design and market new educational content for the Centre. It will also create employment opportunities through heritage restoration work on the exterior facade of the Okanagan Science Centre.

Mayes says improvements to the Centre's program content and building appearance will enhance visitor numbers, membership and contribute to the overall tourism industry in the North Okanagan, as well as help promote science and technology to children and youth. He tells KISS FM, "The Centre has been so good as an educational resource for the area so I think it's going to be a good announcement for them."

Sandi Dixon, executive director of the Science and Discovery Socieity says "The Okanagan Science Centre is deeply honoured to receive this support from the Community Adjustment Fund. We are committed to the ongoing scientific education and continued growth of our children and our community. The CAF contribution will go a long way to further this mission."The Interior Space and Science Centre (formerly the Vernon Science Centre) opened in October 1990 in the Tolko building in downtown Vernon. It relocated to the heritage Park School in Polson Park in March of 1997.
