Liquid Waste Management Plan - The Regional Board has received the final report outlining a Liquid Waste Management Plan for the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area. The purpose of the plan is to provide future guidance and direction for the handling and treatment of liquid waste in the rural and residential areas of Central Okanagan East. The document was created after an extensive public consultation process over the past two years. It will now be submitted to the BC Ministry of Environment for approval.

Biosolid Disposal/Treatment Options - The Regional Board has approved spending up to $50,000 for a consultant to investigate options for biosolid material produced at the Westside Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. As well, a biosolids management plan for the facility will be developed for approval of the Ministry of Environment. These actions are required in light of the decision by the City of Vernon not to allow the Regional District to become a partner in the expansion of the Regional Biosolids Composting facility near Vernon and the need to find an another disposal site for plant biosolids which are temporarily being buried in the Glenmore Landfill since the active life of the Westside Landfill is expected to end during 2010.

Regional Hospital District Funding Approved - The Central Okanagan Regional Hospital District Board has approved a bylaw to borrow $99.3 million for construction of the new Ambulatory Care building adjacent to Kelowna General Hospital. The contribution to the project is on behalf of Central Okanagan ratepayers and is consistent with the Regional Hospital District providing 40% of the funds for Major Capital and Equipment purchases. Interior Health is providing the remaining $115.1 million for the $254.4 million building.
