Thanksgiving Crackdowns

RCMP are prepare for what's expected to be a busy Thanksgiving long weekend. Police say long weekends tend to be a dangerous time on BC Highways. RCMP are warning drivers they will be out this Thanksgiving long weekend with "Operation Impact", targeting aggressive drivers. Vernon RCMP Spokesperson, Gord Molendyk says they will be running checks all weekend. He says they want people to slow down, stop their aggressive driving and use a designated driver.Molendyk says they want people to buckle up, slow down and never get behind the wheel after drinking. The checks begin today and run through Holiday Monday, across the province as well as the country.

Conservation Officers will also be out this weekend. Conservation Officer Josh Lockwood says at some road blocks you will see conservation officers working with RCMP.Lockwood expects it will be a busy weekend in the back country. He says they will be conducting road checks across the province, checking hunters, anglers and other backcountry enthusiasts.
