The program that aims to reduce pesticide use in Okanagan orchards is the subject of a service review by the North Okanagan Regional District. Vernon mayor Wayne Lippert says the city has questions about the structure and financial layout of the Sterile Insect Release program. He says one finding is that NORD has been applying the bylaw incorrectly the last 15 years. "So there's participants in there that shouldn't have been, and there's two tiers of payment level that shouldn't have been either. They've never been passed by any bylaw on that." Lippert says while the city has concerns, it does support the program in general.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
