A sentence has been handed down in a Vernon manslaughter case. CHBC News is reporting that B.C. Supreme Court Justice Peter Rogers has handed down a sentence of six years in prison for Michael James Nelson. Nelson, 29, was convicted in the death of 44-year-old Ed Locey by a jury in May. It has been reported that Nelson hit Locey twice in the head with a hammer in 2007 after Locey insulted his girlfriend. Rogers says Nelson 'lost his temper' and there was no evidence of premeditation. With credit for time already served, Nelson will serve a little more than three years in jail.
