The executive director of Teen Junction has hailed Vernon city council for stepping in with 30-thousand-dollars to ensure that centre, for at risk youths, doesn't close its doors. Debbie Shiller says money from the city and some community groups will ensure the centre keeps its doors open until February. She says any word on provincial gaming-grant money has been delayed until then.The centre has three staffers who deal with literacy programs, including those in Vernon school. She says the mayor and councillors recently pressed the education minister to support the centre's literacy programs and she's just had some positive news that the ministry will fund one position.
