It appears Coldstream residents will be hit with a property tax increase of over five percent next year. Council has directed staff to prepare the 2010 budget based on a 5.5 percent figure, admits Councillor Pat Cochrane, adding there could still be some minor adjustments. But the blame for much of the hike, he says, can fall at the feet of the City of Vernon - about two-and-a-half percent.'' Cochrane says the rest of the hike is the cost of doing business. Meanwhile the first stage in the arbitration process is expected to take place in Vancouver early next week with all sides presenting their cases.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
