A glossy report on horse-racing in the North Okanagan calls for the establishment of a regional equestrian centre and says horse racing should be moved from its current location at Kin Racetrack. The president of the Okanagan Equestrian Society, Ed Woolley, says he's hoping these proposals will convince the City of Vernon and the regional district to allow racing to continue at Kin until the centre is established, probably in 2012. The proposed equestrian centre would have a convertible track, club rooms, a gaming operation and top-notch vet centre. He says legal action will continue if it's decided to close the track in 2010. Woolley says meetings will be held on the matter in January and the society is pushing for an extension.
