City of Vernon unveils new logo

by Castanet Staff -Jan 7, 2010 / 12:00 pm

The City of Vernon has a new logo. The new brand, with the tourism tag line “Make it Yours,” will be used to identify and support the City’s tourism function, market and promote the City and position Vernon as a desirable Okanagan destination for tourists, new residents and new business.

A request for proposals was issued last year and a local firm, Stephanie Tambellini Design, was selected to create the new logo. The new tourism logo will be adopted for use on gifts, clothing, and promotional material. The logo colours refer to the lakes, sky, hillsides, forests and grasslands of Vernon. The City of Vernon will use the logo without the tourism tag line for unofficial uses, such as letterhead and business cards once council gives its approval, expected next week. The existing Corporate Crest remains the exclusive image for use on official documents, minutes, reports and memos to Council, cheques and certificates. The logo design project was funded entirely through a Union of BC Municipalities Community Tourism grant.

The City of Vernon has unveiled a new tourism logo. Three stylized V's, in bright colours, sit above the slogan "Vernon - Make it Yours''. Michelle Jefferson, the city's tourism manager, says there was a decision to rebrand Vernon due to the major changes in the city over the past five years. Just under 13-thousand dollars was spent on the new logo which was drawn up by a local firm, Stephanie Tambellini Design. The logo will be placed on all Vernon tourism ads and city letterhead.

This is excellent, simple and yet very eye catching.

Should we assume that those boomerangs signify returning visitors to Vernon?
