The financial needs of the historic O' Keefe Ranch are going to get a closer look from Vernon City Hall. Council members will sit down with officials from the city-owned heritage attraction in Spallumcheen before giving early budget approval for just over 100-thousand dollars. Councillor Patrick Nicol would like to see how attendance went last year and what the future holds. "We all know there's been substantial taxpayer dollars that have been invested in it, and very worthwhile investment but at this point, we're looking at everything else in our budget so I'm sure that's one of those things too." Councillor Jack Gilroy says more has to be done to make the ranch self supporting, adding the city can't be expected to give it 250-thousand dollars a year forever. "It just doesn't make sense to the taxpayers of Vernon as far as I'm concerned." The ranch's board of directors has said in a letter to the city it will be seeking $214,000 in operating funding this year, the same amount as in 2009. DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
