Okanagan sending 8 to Olympics


Eight Okanagan athletes can call themselves Olympians after being named to the Canadian Olympic team. The entire 206 member team was announced Friday. Most had already been named by their individual sports federations.

The list of Okanagan athletes includes:
  • Justin Kripps, Summerland - Bobsleigh
  • Chris Le Bihan, Kelowna - Bobsleigh
  • Kelsey Serwa, Kelowna - Ski Cross
  • Steve Omischl, West Kelowna - Aerials
  • Kristi Richards, Summerland - Moguls
  • Duncan Keith, Penticton - Men's Hockey
  • Shea Weber, Sicamous - Men's Hockey
  • Drew Neilson, Vernon - Snowboard Cross

  • In all, 35 B.C. athletes were named to the Canadian team. The team was announced at the same time as Clara Hughes was introduced as Canada's flag bearer for the opening ceremonies. The 2010 Olympics open up in Vancouver February 12 and run until February 28.
