Property Assessment Changes

Property assessment arrive this week
About 22,000 Vernon and Coldstream property owners will be getting their 2010 assessment notice in the mail this week. Mark Wooldridge from BC Assessment says most residents will see modest changes. He tells KISS FM, "Most people will be seeing changes of zero to five percent decreases from their past assessments." He says some homes in Vernon have seen their assessment go up as much as five percent. Wooldridge says the values estimate the property's market value as of last July. "It's been a number of years since the assessments have decreased in the province and specifically in the Okanagan region."Last year's assessments were frozen by order of the the BC government.

Vernon's overall assessment roll increased by 158 million dollars to 7.54 billion, while Coldstream's decreased by 52 million to 2.13 billion which reflects changing market values but also includes subdivisions, rezoning and new construction.

Does Vernon's assessment value include Electoral Areas B and C?
