Vernon RCMP are asking the public for help in identifying a thief who pushed an elderly woman to the ground and stole her purse. At about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, an 84-year-old woman was walking in the parking lot of her residence in the 3000 block of 37th Street in Vernon. She was suddenly attacked from behind and pushed to the ground, while the suspect then fled with her purse. The attack left her with minor facial injuries. RCMP say the purse had cash, credit cards and other personal items in it. Police dogs were called in, but they were unable to track the thief.
Unfortunately, the woman could not provide a description of the suspect as she was attacked from behind. The police are asking anyone with any information about this robbery to contact them at (250) 545-7171 or Crime Stoppers.
