Vernon council has given its new budget three readings, with all but one member in support.Councillor Bob Spiers says the proposed tax hike is too high. He tells Kiss FM, "The budget stands at two percent, and I still think it should be down closer to zero, or less and I'll continue to work to get it down there." Spiers says the plan to develop the Vernon Medical Clinic site on 31st Ave, into a park could be shelved to save costs. "The entire project is going to cost the taxpayers $2.6 million for a park. I'm not in agreement with that." Town hall meetings to get input on the budget and other city issues, will be held March 1st at Paddlewheel Park, and on the 2nd at the Scubert Centre, both at 7pm.
