Workers at the Tolko sawmill in Armstrong are facing more down time without pay. Operations at the plant will be curtailed for two weeks, starting March 8th, impacting 175 workers. The workers were also off for two weeks back in January and early February. The Vernon based company says its due to a log shortage caused by two factors including the ongoing legal dispute with the Okanagan Indian Band. Woodlands manager Mark Tamas says that dispute is blocking access to their fibre source which is a key supply for Armstrong. He calls it frustrating and unacceptable. Tolko lawyers will be in court Thursday to seek an enforcement order to remove the band's blockade. The warm weather is also to blame for a log shortage. It's led to the Transportation Ministry implementing load weight restrictions earlier than normal, making many harvest areas inaccessible.
