An attempted robbery at a Vernon convenience store was scuttled by a staff member. Police were called to the Lakeview Market on 15th St in East Hill around 4 PM Monday.A Caucasian male between 18 and 20 years old and wearing sunglasses, a dark hoodie and a dark toque produced a weapon and demanded cash but the clerk did not comply and the suspect fled on foot.RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says "A police service dog attended but the suspect's track ended a short distance later."Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
