If everything is so hunky-dory (according to the Mayor and Councillor Gilroy), why wouldn't such a review be in order?

There is a good reason why Councils/Boards hire OUTSIDE consultants to review local government operations.

Meanwhile, we'll just sit back as the City continues heaping more burdens onto us taxpayers each year, grabbing more land (and liabilities!) from the electoral areas on an almost monthly basis, not to mention the City's takeover of formerly sub-regional services (eg. ec dev and tourism) and its desire for total control of other services, such as water.

As a taxpayer, I heartily welcome any chance to conduct such a professional review to assess whether we are going in the right direction.

It is the responsibility of Council to ask the tough questions necessary to ensure accountability for taxpayers.

Good luck with your initiative, Councillor Spiers.

I sure hope your fellow councillors can find the courage to support your efforts!
