Support Growing for Anti HST Campaign

Written by Peter McIntyre Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:32107.5 KISSFM:

An organizer says the anti HST petition is going well in Vernon MonasheeThe anti HST petition in the Vernon Monashee riding is at the midway point. Local organizer Rod Baziw says they've got about 2,500 signatures, which is about 50 percent of what they need to get the required ten percent support. Baziw says they're relying on people being honest when they sign. "We just ask them if they voted in the last election and if they're an eligible voter, and what area do they live in." Baziw says they've been swamped with people wanting to come to their business with the petition. The signing sites are available at danthorburn.com

The Shuswap riding has already reached the required amount. Organizers of petition drives in Westside-Kelowna, Kelowna-Mission, and Kelowna-Lake Country all indicate they are already at, or very near, the minimum 10-percent minimum of voter signatures Elections B-C says they need, to do their part in a possible referendum on the unpopular tax. Westside-Kelowna organizer Mathew Reid says they'll all still push for more signatures, in case some of them rejected by the elections office.

Tax Lottery and Casino Winnings....painless! and leave us poor buggers alone. 30% for winnings over 1M and 15% on winnings under. It's a Win-Win situation for the government.
