Horse Facility Study Trots Ahead

Local government will fund a study into possible relocation of Kin Race Track, and into a proposal for a new equestrian centre. NORD's Parks and rec manager Al McNiven says the study costing up to 8,000, will have a time frame on it. "The intent is to try to have it done by the end of August." NORD would like to build sports fields on the Kin site. It has served notice to evict the Equestrian Society from the property by the end of October, but the group is fighting the issue in court. The society is looking into the feasibility of a new equestrian centre featuring horse training, racing, boarding and commercial activities like gaming as outlined in a report by Gary Bannerman.
