MONTREAL - When a dozen so-called eating professionals from the United States and a three Canadian amateurs battle for the title of world poutine-eating champion next month, it will be at a contest in – wait for it – Toronto. And it looks as if Quebecers won’t even be able to participate in the contest to down as much of the gloppy layering of French fries, squeaky-fresh cheese curds and gravy as is humanly possible within 10 minutes.
