The salary packages for North Okanagan Regional District staff and directors totalled almost 6 million dollars last year. The figures from the 2009 financial report show 23 staff making 75 thousand dollars or more, and nine costing 100 thousand or more, topped by administrator Greg Betts at 165 thousand dollars, plus 83 hundred in expenses. Chief financial officer David Sewell was next at 121 thousand, plus 14 hundred in expenses. Parks and rec manager Al McNiven was paid $121, 835 which includes $204 in expenses. Since departed corporate officer Jody Anderson was at $113,879. As for the politicians, Board chair Herman Halvorson was paid the most, $34, 643, plus another 11 thousand in expenses. The Area F director (Enderby rural) says much of that is for the pay he gets as the chair. "The $1,168 a month I get for chair pay, and you take that times 12 off of my $34, 643, it knocks me back another 14 thousand dollars, so in essence, I'm the lowest paid electoral area director at the regional district."The total staff costs amount to $5.57 million, while the politicians cost $280, 933.
