Vernon woman roughed up and robbed

A 45-year-old Vernon woman received minor injuries to her arm after she was the victim of a purse snatching last Friday. Police say two people were involved in the incident which occurred at about 10:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of 30th Avenue. The victim was apparently pushed to the ground before her purse was stolen. "Officers were able to locate the two suspects a short time later hiding in the bush," says RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk. "The victim's purse was located with the help of the police service dog. She was taken to VJH where minor injuries to her arm were treated by hospital staff." Molendyk says the suspects, a 20-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were held at the detachment while officers investigated the incident. He says only the woman will face charges. She was released and will appear in court at a later date.
