Library Architect Named

Members of the Okanagan Regional Library board and senior staff have chosen C-E-I Architecture Planning and Interiors to design Vernon's new library. The firm has offices in Kelowna as well as Vancouver, Victoria and Los Angeles. ORL board chair Ted Bacigalupo made the announcement after three short-listed candidates were interviewed this week. The Library says the firm has experience working in the Okanagan and with building libraries. It also came in with the lowest bid. Bacigalupo says the public will see conceptual drawings this fall for a building he expects will fit well in the downtown core. The head of the Vernon Library branch, Maureen Curry, says the space in the current location is cramped. Staff say conceptual drawings will be ready for review by early fall. That's when some open houses will be held to allow the public a chance to comment on the design and put forward some ideas.
