Be prepared to pay the price if you don't follow the new campfire regulations. July 1st new regulations were introduced, restricting the size of a campfire to 1/2 Metre by 1/2 Metre. Fire Information Officer Kayla Pepper says the measures were put in place because the majority of forest fires this season have been 'human-caused.' "53 out of 60 of our fires this year have been person-caused, and people are leaving campfires unattended. So we're just urging the public to take extra precautions when they light campfires."Pepper says in addition to limiting your campfire size, you also need to have 8 litres of water or a shovel nearby to extinguish the fire.If you're caught with a campfire larger than 1/2 Metre by 1/2 Metre, you could be fined $345.
