A Penticton bylaw officer was robbed of parking coins on Tuesday by a man riding by on a bicycle. Around 3:10 p.m., two Penticton bylaw officers were collecting the money from the parking meters in the 200 block of Winnipeg Street. One of the bylaw officers was pushing the coin trolley used to collect the money when a man approached him on a pedal bike. The man used his bike to ram the coin trolley knocking it over. He then punched the officer in the face, grabbed the tipped over trolley, picked it up and pushed it down the alley. Penticton RCMP responded and quickly located and arrested a 20-year-old native man from Westbank. The man remains in police custody and is expected to appear in Penticton court on charges of robbery and obstructing a peace officer.

One of the by-law officers was pushing the coin trolley used to collect the money when a native male approached him on a pedal bike. The male rammed his bicycle into the coin trolley knocking it over. The male then punched the male bylaw officer in the face, grabbed the tipped over trolley, picked it up and pushed it down the alley near the Revenue Canada Building. Penticton RCMP responded and quickly located and arrested a 20 year old native male from Westbank B.C. responsible for the robbery. The male remains in custody and is expected to appear in Penticton Court on charges of Robbery and Obstructing a Peace Officer. The bylaw officer sustained minor injuries.
