Bylaw officer has a brush with death

A Kelowna bylaw officer escaped a brush with death Tuesday. The officer was handling traffic on Spiers Road in East Kelowna as a result of a single vehicle crash, when he was struck by a downed power pole. “What appears to have happened is that one of the employees fixing the pole had cut one of the wires supporting it. The pole swung, pinning the bylaw officer against a tow truck,” says Corporal Steve Woodcox. He says the bylaw officer escaped serious injury. “It's my understanding that within another six inches or so, it could have been a fatal injury." The incident is under investigation.
