The BC Conservative Party has their sights set on the next election. The Advisory board of the BC Conservatives is thrilled former Socred Premier, Rita Johnston has joined them. Johnston, who retired from politics twenty years ago, says she's extremely frustrated with what's been going on in Victoria and the final straw was the HST. She says its not about the tax, but that the government wasn't honest about it. Johnston says the HST is a mess and Premier Campbell agreeing to a referendum is just a stall tactic. She says the Conservatives have crunched the numbers and have a real shot in the next election. Johnston says she'll be working in an advisory role and is hoping former Socreds will join the party. The former Premier now lives in Coldstream.

If the ballot is secret I would assume that those working for businesses in favour of the hst and those who are on the provincial payroll will finally be able to express their true feelings.
With this announcement, I'm sure the other political parties are shaking in their boots. Do we really need Rita Johnston and the Zalm back on the scene? I think not.
Perhaps all these has been's should check the Daily Obit columns for their constituency of the past.
Or are they living in an Ectasy of Past Incompetence.
