GRANTS SUPPORT ARTS AND HERITAGE ACROSS BRITISH COLUMBIA

VICTORIA – Archivists and artists, dancers and drummers in the North, Interior, Central and Kootenay regions of British Columbia will receive $747,760 in Community Gaming Grants supporting youth arts and culture, fairs, festivals and museums.

The Province has budgeted $7.4 million more than last year for gaming grants - a total of $120 million for 2010-2011. The grants will fund approximately 6,000 organizations that support people in need, public safety, youth arts and sports, education and parent and district advisory councils.

Armstrong Interior Provincial Exhibition Association - $15,000

Vernon Arts Council of the North Okanagan - $13,000

Vernon Greater Vernon Minor Hockey Association - $30,000

Vernon O'Keefe Ranch and Interior Heritage Society - $8,500

Vernon Powerhouse Theatrical Society - $22,000

Vernon Sadok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble - $2,500

Vernon Vernon Community Music School Association - $4,500

Vernon Vernon Winter Carnival Society - $20,000
