Another two million dollars is needed to cover the costs of building a new Vernon library, according to a memo sent to the members of the Okanagan Regional Library board. In it, the board is told that the manager of the Vernon project believes ``it may be impossible to bring the building in at the 11-million dollars previously approved'' without affecting the functionality of the building. The board is being advised to add the two-million from reserves. Speaking with SUN FM, board chairman Ted Bacigalupo blamed the increase on ``soft costs'' which he pinpointed as architectural design and project management. He said the board had hoped the total project would come in at the estimated price but is prepared for additional costs.

Since when did "hoped for" become part of any building project?
Another committee that sat down to design a Horse and will end up with a Camel.
Did they ever consider having 600 to 1000 sq. ft. store fronts that people could order their books and then pickup same?
This is the most ridiculous situation yet. Now they are talking of $13million,plus the $1million of land that the City of Vernon gave them! Enough is enough-it is time the local politicians said "No"
