A Vernon man is being treated in hospital under the Mental Health Act after police say he tried to injure an officer. The distraught man was held up in his bedroom on Heritage Drive on Friday night, and police tried to talk him out, according to the RCMP's Gord Molendyk. "The 21 year old male suspect at first was unresponsive. When he did come out of the room he lunged at one of our officers and attempted to harm him. This young man attempted several times to harm our officers" Molendyk (pictured) says the man was brought under control without the use of a Taser.
It turned out the object he tried to stab the officer with, was a pen."There was some concern by our officers that this individual was hoping that police were going to take more serious action, but the good work of our officers did bring him under control and get his the help he obviously needs."There were no serious injuries.
