Two First Nations leaders from the Okanagan will vye for the title of president of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs. With nominations now closed, the race will feature four term president Stewart Phillip who is also chairman of the Okanagan Nation Alliance, up against Wayne Christian, chief of the Enderby based Splats'in First Nation. The Vernon based Okanagan Indian band says its supporting Phillip who is a former long term chief of the Penticton Indian Band. The election will take place at the group's annual general meeting next Thursday in Vancouver.
