Two Arrested After Forcing Man Into Vehicle
Two Vernon men are in custody and, police say, at least one is expected to appear in court on weapons charges after a number of people were threatened with an axe early Wednesday morning. RCMP say the incident started just after 2 a.m. when the two suspects, one wielding an axe, stopped a 24-year-old man by the Rec Centre and demanded money. When the victim said he didn't have any, he was forced to get into a vehicle and taken to a parking lot at 24th Avenue and 34th Street. The young man is said to have escaped when the two males got out of the car and confronted two other men. The victim got a plate number and called police. Shortly after, officers made an arrest. The RCMP are urging the two unknown victims to come forward.
