Bathtub toy cuts genitals, recalled

A toy submarine designed for children to play with in the bathtub is being recalled because of an abrasion and laceration hazard.  The Munchkin Bathtub Sub is being recalled because it poses an abrasion risk.The Munchkin Bathtub Sub is being recalled because it poses an abrasion risk. (Health Canada)The Munchkin Bathtub Sub toy is a yellow and orange, battery-powered motorized submarine. It has a smiling face, green windows an orange propeller and an orange periscope which turns it off an on.  It also has an intake valve on the bottom, which is the source of the problem. According to a Health Canada recall notice, the valve can suck up loose skin causing cuts and abrasions. The public health agency has received two reports of little boys suffering injuries to their genital region. The company that manufactures the toy sub has received 19 similar complaints.
The incidents did not require medical attention, but the manufacturer decided to initiate a voluntary recall so that similar incidents don't occur.About 4,260 of the toys were sold at Wal-Mart and various children's specialty stores in Canada between January and September 2010. The toys were manufactured in China.
