Vernon's deputy fire chief is pleased with the initial response to a volunteer fire department at Predator Ridge. Lawrie Skolrood says a recruitment and information drive last month went well. He says so far they've had eight interested people contact them. "I think the exercise for a lot of different reasons was a success." He says they'll interview the potential volunteers and let them know what to expect and what will be expected of them. Skolrood is hoping to get 16 volunteers, preferably residents of the resort, for the fire hall which is set for 2012. He says an ad in the paper seeking more recruits will be the next step.
