The Vernon area will be getting some tourism benefits from......members of the tourism industry.

More than 150 leaders from the sector will attend the second annual Thompson Okanagan Tourism Industry Summit, the first week of November at the Sparkling Hill Resort. Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association CEO Glenn Mandziuk says the three day event (Nov 3-5) will plan for future growth of tourism in the region, with guest speakers and panel discussions. Mandziuk says the focus will be "Reflecting on Excellence", which he says will be keeping with the Swarovski crystal-laden surroundings of the resort. "This recognizes that delivering excellence can give the Thompson Okanagan region the competitive edge it needs to build its status as a premier national and international travel destination." Summit organizer Jennifer Houiellebecq says a keynote address will feature world leading UK-based tourism consultant Dr. Roger Carter on "Building the Competitive Destination of the Future." The entire Sparkling Hill Resort is booked for the event.
