Several buildings have been evacuated in the South Pandosy area of Kelowna, B.C., after a large natural gas line ruptured. Terasen Gas and fire crews are at the site, on Pandosy Street between West Avenue and Groves Avenue, but said they have not yet determined what caused the leak. Jason Brolund, assistant fire chief, said emergency officials were alerted about the leak just before 9 a.m. PT and decided to evacuate about 10 commercial buildings in the area. "There is a large amount of natural gas that is escaping into the air and the concern is that it could build up to an unacceptable level in a building," said Brolund.
