Vernon Jubilee Gets More $$ - Designated to Help ER

Vernon is one of  15 hospitals getting a piece of the 22-million dollars in additional funding to help with all of those code purple's.   Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster says the Vernon ER will be able to ease congestion and reduce patient waits with  $272,000 in patient-focused funding this year. "As a government, we are consistently looking for ways to improve the current system and make better use of taxpayer dollars," Foster says. "Patient-focused funding is a better funding model because it's more efficient and it gives patients better care."  The additional funding will be distributed among 15 B.C. emergency departments that account for almost half of the ER visits in the province, including hospitals in the Lower Mainland, on Vancouver Island, in the Interior and in the North. Kelowna General Hospital gets $629,000.
