Shuswap MLA and Education Minister George Abbott has thrown his hat into the Liberal leadership race.
The Sicamous resident and former college instructor (pictured) is the second person to declare his intention to replace Premier Campbell at a February 26th leadership convention. Abbott will make his announcement Thursday in Vancouver flanked by at least a dozen members of the current Liberal caucus. Abbott is into his fourth term as an MLA and has also served as minister in the health and aboriginal relations portfolios.Health Minister Kevin Falcon says he's ''weeks'' away from making his decision public, while Solicitor General Rich Coleman and Attorney General Mike de Jong are seriously considering running for the job.Sources say former Liberal cabinet minister Christy Clark, now a Vancouver hotline radio host, is poised to enter the race.
