Police Dog Tracks Three Children Lost in Wooded Area - Kids cold, wet, hungry but okay, report RCMP

Vernon police pulled over a speeding driver on Highway 97, near College Way Monday afternoon only to discover the frantic woman's three kids had gotten lost in wooded land somewhere off Commonage Road. The woman said they had been missing for about an hour. Police spokesperson Gord Molendyk says an officer was able to talk to the 13-year-old girl on her dying cell phone and get a description of the area, off Commonage Road. The teen had taken her eight-year-old sister and two-year-old brother out for a walk and gotten turned around. He says it took 25 minutes for a police dog to track the three to a small clearing a long way from the roadway. ``They were a little wet, cold and hungry but everybody was fine,'' says Molendyk, adding that they had hidden under a canoe to stay out of the rain.
