Busy Coldstream Agenda - Everything from Remuneration to Endorsements

The current Coldstream Council  has set the salary for what the council elected a year from now will make.  Mayor Jim Garlick says they looked at what elected officials made in similar size communities.  In 2012 the Mayor will make 27-thousand, while councillors will be paid 10-grand.  They also get just over 131-dollars for each committee meeting they attend.

Coldstream Council has set the new sewer rates. Mayor Jim Garlick says it will impact residents, some will pay less, while others will pay more.   He says the difference is everyone now has water meters,  so residents will  no longer pay a block fee for sewer.  Mayor Garlick says residents used to pay about 500-dollars per year, but Coldstream residents will be paying similar sewer rates as people who live in Vernon.

Coldstream Council has voted unanimously to endorse a lease agreement between the North Okanagan Regional District and Okanagan College for a track facility at the campus. Garlick says the ALR application was too late to make the agenda, but council did want to show their support for the project. He says they'll be talking about the ALC application  for the 7.8-million dollar sports facility in two weeks.
