It's no deal for workers at four Lake City Casino outlets in Vernon, Kamloops, Kelowna and Penticton. Union and company reps reached the tentative three year deal last week that included wage increases around two percent a year, and improved language for overtime, job postings, recall and layoffs. Erin Sikora from the BC Government and Service Employees Union says a ratification vote was held for the 370 staff members this week. She tells KISS FM, "The membership has rejected the tentative agreement, so at this point we will be taking some time to review our options." Sikora says they will move forward with the bargaining process in the new year. She didn't know what the rejection margin was, and the union is not getting into specifics about why the deal was turned-down. The casino workers also turned down one tentative deal before accepting a second one last time the contract was up in 2008. About 80 of the employees work at the Lake City outlet in Vernon as dealers, slot machines attendants, cashiers, food and beverage servers and security personnel.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
