Hansma To Seek Sixth Term

Will HansmaMunicipal elections will be held next November, and we can expect to hear a lot of talk over the next few months about who may--or may not--be running. Spallumcheen Mayor Will Hansma (pictured) is the first of the incumbent local mayors to indicate he will be seeking re-election.  Hansma will be seeking a sixth term as the township's mayor.  In 2008, the owner of the Okanagan Advertizer newspaper won the position after a challenge from former mayor Guenter Rieger and Dustin Griffin.  Hansma was cleared of conflict of interest allegations by the BC Court of Appeal in June after legal action was brought on by a group of 39 residents. BC will hold municipal elections for councils, regional districts and school boards November 19th, 2011.
