Jail Referendum In The New Year - That's the Mayor's Wish

Lumby's Mayor wants a referendum in the New Year on a proposed jail. Kevin Acton says the community has a lot of support from area communities, including Kelowna.  So Acton says once residents have their questions answered by the province, there should be a vote so council knows for sure how residents feel. Acton hopes it could happen in the next couple of months.  He expects it will cost a ``couple'' of thousand dollars. The mayor says the building of a new jail ``needs to happen'' in the Okanagan because local jails are overfilled. ``We can't handle it,'' warns Acton.
