Landing Fire Damages Garage, Old Car

Vernon Fire Rescue truck (Kiss FM file photo)Fire has heavily damaged a detached garage in Okanagan Landing. The Sunday blaze may have been tied to a chimney in the structure at 6825 Tronson Road. Inspector Dean Wakefield says damage was extensive. "There was approximately 35-thousand dollars damage, and that's just the initial estimate. I'm sure the figure will go higher once insurance tallies up all the stuff that was lost."The cause is being listed as accidental. "We suspect something went wrong with the chimney."Wakefield says one uninsured item was a 1961 Dodge Phoenix, in the process of restoration. It's not clear if the car is a write off as they still have to get the roof off it.
