Long time Vernon business closes- Bakers Dozen among a number of merchants on 29th Street who appealed to city council last year for tax relief

What was once a thriving business in Vernon has closed its doors for good. Bakers Dozen on 29th Street shut down this past Monday. Owner Maureen D'Angelo's only comment was there was a feeling the business ``could not survive on the newly-designed 29th Street.'' D'Angelo and a dozen other business people complained to city council last year that major and lengthy road works on 29th, between 43rd and 48th avenues,  had had a serious economic effect. D'Angelo says she had to lay off 30 people since the work began. The last nine lost their jobs this week.

I dont think you can totally blame the construction on this one

No kidding!

I agree the construction can't be fully blamed for this one BUT this particular construction zone took longer to construct than even third world nations road repair. The job site was EXTREMELY poorly run.

I am from Surrey and everytime I am up there I load up on your bread and of course other goodies. I am so sorry you had to close, will miss your quality products. Thanks for the years of enjoyment.
